The Harwelden Institute for Hospitality Excellence, a program of the Harwelden Society of Tulsa, provides hospitality education, workforce development, and professional training through partnerships with colleges, universities, career technology centers, and industry leaders.
Programs may include classroom instruction, online coursework, internships, apprenticeships, and hands-on experience within an operating luxury hotel. Areas of study include hospitality management, guest services, food and beverage operations, event management, historic property management, tourism, wellness, and luxury service.
The Institute also supports continuing education, leadership development, customer service training, and professional certification opportunities for hospitality professionals.
The Society operates a volunteer program supporting tours, gardens, educational programming, events, and guest experiences.
Volunteers receive docent training that prepares them to interpret the history of Harwelden Mansion, the Harwell family, Tulsa’s architectural heritage, and Oklahoma’s broader story.
The Society advances cultural tourism through guided tours, exhibitions, lectures, performances, seasonal programming, and immersive storytelling experiences that encourage visitors to engage more deeply with Harwelden’s history and Tulsa’s cultural heritage.

The Society supports artist residency programs for musicians, writers, visual artists, chefs, designers, and other creative professionals, providing opportunities to create, teach, perform, collaborate, and engage with students, guests, and the community.
The Society preserves, interprets, and shares the history of Harwelden Mansion, the Harwell family, and Tulsa’s architectural heritage through archival stewardship, oral history initiatives, exhibitions, educational resources, and preservation projects.
The Society collaborates with universities, colleges, career technology centers, museums, cultural organizations, arts nonprofits, tourism agencies, and civic partners to expand educational opportunities and strengthen Tulsa’s cultural ecosystem.

Harwelden Society of Tulsa serves as the nonprofit partner to Harwelden Mansion, LLC, with each organization fulfilling complementary but distinct roles.
Harwelden Mansion, LLC owns and operates the luxury hospitality business, including lodging, memberships, food and beverage operations, events, retail, and other revenue-generating activities.
Harwelden Society of Tulsa advances the public-benefit mission through hospitality education, workforce development, volunteer engagement, historic preservation, cultural programming, wellness initiatives, and community access.
Together, the two organizations create a sustainable model that combines commercial hospitality with lasting educational, cultural, and civic impact.
